Interesting but I'd like to point that while in a ritual we recognize a meaning from the outside, in the play we just act what is meant (very often groundlessly, without meaning or without awareness of the meaning). We are living in a society of compulsive entertainment, probably based on nothing (maybe exactly as all the other human society). Therefore I suspect that a rigorous inspection of play and entertainment will result in...nothing, not due to the superficiality of our society, but simply because "nothing" is the ground of play.Of course the process of this inspection could be tremendously fecund and we could learn hugely. And also we could have a lot of fun.
